Family Equality Supports Dr. Levine’s Nomination to be Asst. Secretary of Health

Family Equality joins more than 350 groups in supporting President Biden’s historic nominee

Washington, DC – Following President Joe Biden’s historic nomination of Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine to the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Health, Family Equalityjoined hundreds of organizations across the country in signing a letter urging the US Senate to swiftly confirm her to this position.

The letter, led by the National LGBT Cancer Network, Fenway Health, and Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center, details Dr. Levine’s years of experience and spotless credentials.

“Family Equality is proud to join hundreds of partner organizations in standing with Dr. Levine for the confirmation fight ahead,” says Denise Brogan-Kator, Chief Executive Officer (Interim) of Family Equality. “Of course, the fact that she is trans is an inspiration to many. But, her impeccable qualifications, especially her leadership in guiding Pennsylvania through both the opioid epidemic and the COVID-19 pandemic, make her the best possible candidate for this position.  We commend President Biden and his administration for nominating individuals to key administrative positions based on merit rather than non-merit related factors. ”

The letter can be accessed at bit.ly/levine4ash and will remain open to organizational sign-ons through the confirmation process.
