Bring on the Books!

Remember how special it was to have reading time as a young child?
Whether it was in kindergarten class or at home with a blanket and
a parent, reading is a cozy and fun pastime. It’s important that
our children read books that accurately represent their families
and that reaffirm who they are. I encourage you to peruse our list
of LGBTQ-family friendly books and read one to your child’s class
or at a local library. If you hold an event or go to your child’s
school, please let us know about how it goes. And if you’re in
the Boston area, let us cordially invite you to a reading
corner!
The Family Equality Council is hosting its first ever Cutie Patoots
Reading Nook—one fun hour of reading children’s books about
diverse families and doing fabulously entertaining LGBT
family-themed activities. It will be on April 26th from 11 AM until
12 PM at the Jamaica Plain Public Library on 12 Sedgwick Street.
Please bring your children for a really lovely time! Because there
is limited space, we ask that you RSVP as soon as you can by
emailing us at Julia.Bean@familyequality.org
with the age and number of children coming. Can’t wait to see
you!
