Dr. Bar-Chama is a board certified urologist who received his medical degree with special distinction for research in male infertility and also completed his urology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In 1993, Dr. Bar-Chama was awarded the prestigious New York Academy of Medicine F.C. Valentine Fellowship and received subspecialty training in male reproductive medicine and surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Bar-Chama is the Director of Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, and an Associate Professor in the Departments of Urology, Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. His subspecialty clinical practice is exclusively dedicated to male reproductive medicine and microsurgical reconstruction for the treatment of male-factor infertility (vasectomy reversal, varicocelectomy, testicular and epididymal sperm retrieval, and vasectomy).
Dr. Bar-Chama's research (over $3 million in grants) and publications have focused on male infertility and erectile dysfunction. In 1998, he received the Pfizer Scholars in Urology Award for leadership, innovation, and outstanding achievement in urological science. Since 2005, Dr. Bar-Chama has been listed each year as one of the "Best Doctors in New York" by New York Magazine. Dr. Asemota graduated from the University of Chicago with a bachelor of science in biology. She earned her medical degree and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, serving as the academic chief resident during her last year of training.
She then completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Montefiore Institute of Reproductive Medicine-Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Asemota has had extensive training in the most up-to-date minimally invasive surgical techniques with experience in traditional laparoscopy and operative hysteroscopy for treatment of fibroids, uterine septums, and uterine adhesions.
Dr. Asemota is excited to return to Illinois with her husband and twin boys to join the Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago team. She has special interests in third party reproduction (egg donation and gestational carriers), fertility preservation, reproductive surgery and is committed to delivering compassionate and personalized care to her patients.
