Originally from Harrisburg, PA, Dr. Nguyen received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and Masters in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Nguyen completed two subspecialty fellowships in Clinical Genetics at the National Institutes of Health and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. Her research in infertility and stem cells is funded by the National Institutes of Health and New England Fertility Society. She was recognized as the first OBGYN accepted into the prestigious Clinical Investigator Training Program of Harvard Catalyst. She has also served on the Committee on Genetics for the American College of OBGYNs and is an active member of ASRM.

Kimberly represents and consults with various ART medical clinics, surrogacy agencies and donor programs nationwide. She has been lobbying in front of the Nevada State Legislature since 2003 on various issues of reproductive technology and adoption law, domestic partnerships and collaborative law. She published the first ART article ever in the Nevada Lawyer titled Parenthood Through Technology and was the first to speak to the Nevada State Bar Family Law Section regarding LGBT family law issues. Kim Surratt is responsible for the drafting and lobbying of the new reproductive law for Nevada, a gender and marital status neutral law that allows everyone access to parenthood.
