Biography

Dr. John L. Frattarelli is the Medical, Practice and Laboratory Director for the Fertility Institute of Hawaii which provides IVF services to Hawaii, the western US, Canada, Asia and Australia with offices in Honolulu, Kailua, Hilo, and Maui. Dr. Frattarelli is one of only a few physicians nationally who also is qualified to serve as Laboratory Director for the IVF Laboratory.  This allows him to provide singular oversight for all Clinical and Laboratory aspects of the IVF practice. Likewise, he is one of only a few board certified fellowship trained reproductive endocrinologists in Hawaii.

Dr. Frattarelli formerly served for 6 years (2000 to 2006) as the Medical and Practice Director for the Tripler IVF Institute in Honolulu, HI. During that time, he also served as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. As an Assistant Professor at the University of Hawaii, he mentored and educated many medical students and residents who are currently practicing in Hawaii.

Dr. Frattarelli completed his undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He received his M.D. from the University of Tennessee School of Medicine. He completed an Internship and Residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC followed by a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

From 2006 to 2008, Dr. Frattarelli was a physician with Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey, one of the largest and most successful reproductive medicine groups in the world. At Reproductive Medicine Associates, Dr. Frattarelli was the Clinical Research Director and under his direction the practice received national and international attention with multiple research awards, protocols, and publications. During this time, he was also an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ.

Dr. Frattarelli returned to Hawaii in 2006 and co-founded Advanced Reproductive Medicine & Gynecology of Hawaii which provides advanced gynecologic and infertility care to the patients of Hawaii. In 2010, Dr. Frattarelli founded the Fertility Institute of Hawaii which provides state of the art advanced fertility services including In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Intrauterine Inseminations (IUI), ovulation induction, and fertility preservation using embryo, egg, or sperm cyroperservation.

Dr. Frattarelli is a member of several national and international societies and has served as Chair for the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Associates and Chair for the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology Subspecialist CREOG Examination Committee. He is currently the Clinical Director of the Executive Council for the Society for Assisted Reproduction and Technology. He is an avid award-winning researcher and lecturer with several national and international presentations and published manuscripts. He serves as an ad hoc reviewer for more than 10 peer review medical journals. His research interests have focused on reproductive endocrinology and ways to improve infertility diagnosis and treatment, particularly in the areas of diminished ovarian reserve, infertility surgery, ultrasonography, polycystic ovarian syndrome, recurrent miscarriages, endometriosis, ovulation induction, male aging, and in vitro fertilization.

Above all Dr. Frattarelli is a compassionate physician who understands the needs and fears of his patients. He realizes that every patient has specific concerns. He provides personalized care to treat each patient as an individual in order to optimize each patient’s treatment outcome.

Biography

John M. Norian, MD FACOG received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons, completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine program in New York and his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland.  He is a board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and board-eligible Reproductive Endocrinologist.  Dr. Norian is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Loma Linda University School of Medicine and at Western University of the Health Sciences.

Dr. Norian has authored over 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters focusing on reproductive biology and infertility.  He has earned numerous distinctions and awards throughout his career.  Several of his often cited articles have helped to broaden our scientific understanding and have guided clinical care.  He is passionate about helping women and men achieve their goals of family building.  His expertise includes IVF, IVF with donor oocytes, and gestational surrogacy.

When in fellowship at the NIH, Dr. Norian was a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Public Health Service and had the privilege of providing care for military families.  He is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.  He is a member of the Cade Foundation’s Advisory Council which supports families battling infertility.   

Dr. Norian is fluent in medical Spanish and his interests include long distance running, reading and enjoying time in the outdoors with his family.

Biography

Dr. Kim received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University in neurobiology before obtaining his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. After completing his obstetrics and gynecology residency training at Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he was awarded “excellence in reproductive medicine,” he underwent fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Prior to joining Houston Fertility Institute, he has done extensive research in the role of obesity on the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. In addition, he has co-authored multiple descriptive surgical videos in minimally invasive and reproductive microsurgical techniques. His work has been presented at national meetings and published in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Kim is an active member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
