John J. Stangel, MD is a board certified Reproductive Endocrinologist and infertility specialist with over 35 years of experience caring for patients. Dr. Stangel sees patients at RMA of New York’s White Plains office.
Dr. Stangel is a highly experienced and esteemed physician, renowned for providing patients with the highest level of personal attention and individual quality care. Dr. Stangel established the second IVF Program in the United States and has helped in the conception of over 4,000 babies.
Prior to joining RMA of New York, Dr. Stangel was the medical director of the large infertility practice he founded in Rye, New York. His previous positions include: Medical Director of the Westchester Affiliate of the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science of Saint Barnabas; Clinical Director of Reproductive Medicine, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health Montefiore Medical Center, The University Hospital for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine; Medical Director of the IVF America Program- Westchester in Port Chester, New York; Medical Director of the IVF Australia Program at United Hospital in Port Chester, New York; as well as Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Medical College at Metropolitan Hospital in Valhalla, New York.
Upon graduating from New York Medical College, Dr. Stangel completed his internship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai Medical Center, also in New York. He returned to New York Medical College for his subspecialty fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology. Dr. Stangel is a charter member of the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists, as well as a charter member of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons. Dr. Stangel also served as the President of the Westchester County Medical Society and had previously held the positions of President Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
Dr. Stangel has published numerous scientific papers and articles and has contributed to many textbooks, including “Infertility Surgery.” He has also authored patient guides to infertility, including “The New Fertility and Conception” and co-authored “The Unofficial Guide to Overcoming Infertility,” published by Macmillan, as well as “The Unofficial Guide to Getting Pregnant,” published by Wiley. Dr. Stangel has lectured widely in the United States and abroad.
Dr. Stangel has been recognized as a “Top Doctor” by Castle Connolly 23 times. He has been included in the America’s Top Doctors list for the past three years and the New York Metro list for the past 14 consecutive years. He has been recognized as a “Top Doctor” by Westchester Magazine four times.
