Sara Barris is a clinical psychologist. Since 1988 she has been highly active in the field of reproductive health issues with an expertise in infertility and adoption Dr. Barris has written and lectured extensively around the psychological and emotional variables surrounding these issues.
She has conducted many workshops in these areas as well. Dr. Barris serves as the co - director of Support Services for Path2Parenthood. In that capacity she has created and co-developed their national telephone coaching support groups. This involves leading groups, training and supervising mental health professionals. Dr. Barris is a part of Dr. Martin Seligman’s team at the University of Pennsylvania helping to facilitate the Penn Resilience Prevention Program for children and adolescents. Sara Barris has a full time private practice in Forest Hills, New York . She is a mother through birth and adoption.
Dr. Silvia Schneider Fox is a Chicago clinical psychologist, specializing in reproductive health since 1992. Her clinical practice is devoted to counseling and supporting individuals and couples during all stages of family-building, including third-party reproduction, pregnancy loss, and parenting after infertility. Dr. Fox facilitates Mind/Body For Fertility programs which help women manage stress while increasing their treatment success. She screens ovum donors and gestational carriers, consults with recipient couples and reports to medical professionals and independent agencies.
Dr. Fox has widely researched, written and presented on topics related to family-building. A professional member of RESOLVE since 1995, she served as its Illinois Director of Support Services, authored a regular "Ask the Expert" column and was a keynote speaker at its symposia and programs. Since 2010, Dr. Fox has been traveling the country, educating dozens of Reproductive Endocrinology practices on the emotional aspects of infertility.
Finally, Dr. Fox has her own experience with infertility. Her long journey to parenthood has deepened her understanding of the challenges others face in the process of building their own families. Nowadays, she combines her personal, research and clinical experience into one voice, put into words on her Fertility Resilience blog.
Dr. Stacey Pawlak earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Memphis and is a licensed psychologist/health service provider in the state of Iowa. She is Staff Health Psychologist for the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinic's Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Program in Iowa City, Iowa.
Her work with this program includes pre-treatment consultation for patients utilizing third-party reproduction, and supportive psychotherapy for individuals and couples coping with the challenges of infertility. She also serves as Staff Psychologist for the Women's Wellness & Counseling Service at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics where she provides outpatient psychotherapy to perinatal women and their families. Dr. Pawlak is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Iowa Psychological Association, and the Mental Health Professional Group for the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
Bill Petok’s professional activities include the co-production of two films for training therapists, multiple journal articles, chapters in professional texts and regular presentations at state, national and international conferences. In addition to teaching in the resident training program at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1985 he has presented Grand Rounds to the medical staffs of hospitals around the country.
A fellow of the Maryland Psychological Association, member of the American Psychological Association, and the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality, Dr. Petok is a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Maryland and listed in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. He also is a Diplomate and Founding Fellow of the American Board of Sexology. A past Chair of the Mental Health Professional Group of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, he currently serves on the Executive Council of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology and on the editorial board of ASRM’s journal, Sexuality, Menopause and Reproductive Medicine and is an associate editor of Post Graduate Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Bill Petok earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. His Doctorate is from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1978. His post doctoral training includes a year at the Family Therapy Institute of Washington, D.C. and at Sheppard & Enoch Pratt Hospital in the Sexual Dysfunctions Clinic.
Bill is married to Barbara Schlaff, a partner at the law firm Venable in Baltimore. Together they have 2 children, Ben, born in 1981, and Alison, born in 1985. His personal interests include cooking, photography, sailing and down hill skiing.
