Biography

Madeline Licker Feingold, Ph.D., Director of Psychological Services is a clinical psychologist with offices in Berkeley and Walnut Creek. She has over 25 years of experience treating adults, couples, and families and specializes in the psychological aspects of reproductive medicine, treatment of infertile couples, and alternative family building. She has been affiliated with the Alta Bates In Vitro Fertilization Program since 1992.

Dr. Feingold provides infertility counseling to help our patients cope with the emotional strain of infertility and works collaboratively with our medical team to insure an integrated treatment approach. She incorporates principles of mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and lifestyle interventions to assist individuals and couples reduce stress and depression and enhance the quality of their lives. Dr. Feingold has completed the Mind/Body Infertility Professional Training Program with Alice Domar, Ph.D.

Dr. Feingold has expertise in the psychological and ethical issues associated with third party reproduction.  She provides the required psychological screening of our egg donors and surrogates and meets with intended parents who are considering building a family with the assistance of donor egg, donor sperm, donor embryo, or surrogacy. Dr. Feingold helps people develop an individualized family building plan which focuses on healthy child and family development.

A member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (and former chair of the Mental Health Professional Group),Path2Parenthood, and Resolve, Dr. Feingold regularly speaks at conferences on infertility and publishes in the field.

Marie Davidson, Ph.D. is currently on staff at Fertility Centers of Illinois®. She has been involved in counseling prospective surrogates, donors, and patients for over 20 years. Dr. Davidson is a licensed clinical psychologist, having earned her doctoral degree at the University of Illinois.

Biography

Dr. Mary Riddle received her PH.D. in Clinical Health Psychology from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology of Yeshiva University in New York City. She completed her pre-doctoral clinical internship at the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health (of New York’s Psychoanalytic Institute). She completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Manhattan’s VA Hospital, where she started a women’s health collaborative with Primary Care.

Dr. Riddle has published numerous articles within the field of reproductive health and her research has been nationally recognized.

Since 2006, Dr. Riddle has been on faculty at The Pennsylvania State University in the department of Psychology. Currently she is a course author and lecturer of Psychology for Penn State University’s World Campus. She also maintains a private practice in State College, PA.

Since 2005, Dr. Riddle has served as the psychological consultant to Geisinger Medical Center’s Fertility Clinic in Danville, PA. She counsels patients and evaluates potential egg donors and gestational surrogates. She also meets with couples to help them navigate the complex issues inherent in third party reproduction.

Dr. Riddle is a member of the Mental Health Professional Group of The American Society for Reproductive Medicine. She is the past Chair of the Mental Health Professional Group as well as the past Chair of the Scientific Development Committee. She remains on the Executive Board until 2017. Dr. Riddle is on the Editorial Board of Fertility and Sterility, the medical journal of The American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Biography

Michele L. Cole, LCSW- NY, NJ, Founder and Director of The Family Building Support Center, LLC., is a clinical social worker with over twelve years of experience in the field of mental health as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and associate clinical director, in private and community practice.  She works with adults, children, adolescents, couples and families. Ms. Cole is a current member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine’s Mental Health Professional Group, RESOLVE, The National Infertility Association, Concerned Persons for Adoption and The New Jersey Association of Women Therapists. She has received continuing education on contemporary family building at The National Institute for the Psychotherapies’ ongoing professional training series, “Psychoanalytic Perspectives on Adoption, Infertility and Contemporary Family-Making,” adoption issues at Rutgers University’s Institute for Families and on telemedicine ethics and practices at The Telemental Health Institute.

In addition to working with prospective parents around infertility, assisted and third party reproduction, adoption and family life issues, other areas of clinical focus include the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders, women’s issues, trauma and working with grief, bereavement and attachment issues.

Ms. Cole currently serves as Compliance Officer at The Fifth Avenue Counseling Center, Inc., a community mental health center in New York City where she has held the positions of Associate Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisor and Psychotherapist.  She has also worked as an individual and group counselor for survivors of The September 11th tragedy and as a child and family social worker for Headstart.

Ms. Cole received her Masters of Social Work degree from City University of New York’s Hunter College.  Prior to her work in the mental health field, she was a broadcast news journalist and adjunct professor of television production and writing. She was also President and Founder of Careers On Site, Inc., a career education and mentoring program for teens.
